"Gateway to India"
Last Train to Bombay has tried very hard to infuse the best of India in its fare, with a fair amount of success. So you get tandoori, mughlai, seafood from the Indian coasts and dosas from southern India. The chaats were delicious, the dosas delectable in different permutations and combinations.
The vodka curry shot, I must say, is kinky stuff, yet potent. The curries were authentic with the right dash of spice and dry fruits did exist in the gravy, where needed. My friend gorged on the fish curry. Her appetite for the seafood here could affect the marine ecology! The open kitchen, visible to the visitor, looked like a food factory – understandably so, as the place was always crowded. The décor is modern, yet essentially Bombay with Bollywood overtones. The service is quick and no-nonsense; the staff are polite and helpful. I will keep coming back – it’s definitely more affordable than going to India to have authentic, tasty Indian food.
